Description
Pedra da Gávea is the most difficult hike in the city, covering 7 km round trip, with steep and demanding sections along the way. It takes about 6–7 hours to complete and is a beautiful challenge for experienced hikers but not recommended for those without good physical conditioning.
Start at Pedra da Gávea Base: We’ll meet at the Tijuca National Park entrance and prepare for the hike, with a briefing about trail essentials and safety measures.
The Ascent: We’ll trek through lush Atlantic Forest vegetation, perfect for bird watching and spotting local wildlife. We'll make several stops to rest and enjoy the views.
Carrasqueira Climb: This is the most technical section, where you'll engage in a short but exhilarating rock climb. Our expert guide will ensure your safety with proper climbing gear.
Pedra da Gávea Summit: After the challenge, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most spectacular views in Rio. There will be plenty of time for photos, relaxing, and snacking.
Descent: We’ll make our way back down, taking in the natural beauty one more time as we descend the trail.

- Please note that the Pedra da Gávea hike is not suitable for beginners. It is highly recommended not to consume alcohol the day before the tour and to ensure you get a good night's sleep for optimal performance during the hike
