Description

Start your tour with a pick-up from your hotel in the south or central zone of Rio. Head to the Favela Tavares Bastos, located in the safest square meter of Rio de Janeiro. Take a local Kombi van to the top of the Favela. See the Graffiti Mural Circuit, the local Sports Square, and the headquarters of BOPE, a type of Brazilian SWAT. Visit The Maze Rio, the brazilian Park Güell in Rio de Janeiro: a house covered with mosaics with an unusual architecture, and venue for live music performances. Enjoy a panoramic view of Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain. Over the years, the Maze, created and maintained by the English artist Bob Nadkarni, has developed into a multifaceted cultural center, offering live jazz concerts, Brazilian music concerts, a permanent art exhibition, and unique architecture. The institution also supports educational projects to the community of Tavares Bastos, such as ballet, classical music, soccer, and English lessons. Continue to the site of the foundation of Tavares Bastos, which used to be a farm owned by a sugar mill owner. Walk to the bottom of Tavares Bastos before being dropped off back at your hotel.
